Hello
My name is Nicola Donaldson
I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, and my aim is to provide warmth and compassion and a safe and non-judgmental space for you to speak openly and freely.

Being an integrative therapist, I have studied a range of therapeutic approaches. As individuals, we are all unique and I believe passionately in working alongside the person rather than a one size fits all approach; being integrative means I can offer a range of approaches or techniques to suit your individual needs. At the heart of my approach is the therapeutic relationship; truly feeling listened to, being heard, and given the space to be open and to explore can undoubtedly have a profound impact.

As a registered member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), it means I work within and adhere to their Ethical Framework. In accordance with the Ethical Framework, I undertake supervision, engage in regular CPD and have an updated Enhanced DBS and insurance.

MY BACKGROUND
Working as a teacher for over 17 years, I became increasingly drawn towards a desire to work in a more supportive role where I could help young people overcome the issues and barriers rather than simply focusing on the end goal.

Choosing to study for the NCS accredited Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy has been an invaluable opportunity, both personally and professionally. Having experienced my own difficulties, I have learned so much about how our life experiences can impact our day-to-day life and how different therapeutic approaches can help us to overcome difficulties and challenges. My counselling experience was not only developed through the course but also at Sheffield Mind where I worked as a counsellor with adults with a diverse range of issues.
